Yesterday afternoon I saw this picture a friend took of me last weekend. A few hours later I was sitting around waiting in a semi-uncomfortable situation reading Trout Fishing in America by Richard Brautigan and read this: “Old Italians gather in front of the newspaper in the afternoon and just stand there, leaning up against the building, talking and dying in the sun.”
The two made me think of each other for various reasons.
